Bladder cancer is the 5th most common cancer in Canada for men, 12th for women, yet far down the line at 20th for research funding. Over 80,000 Canadians have been
affected by it. This type of cancer is one of the most unknown, costliest and underfunded areas for research. Costliest, because of it's over 70% recurrence rate for the non-muscle invasive type. It costs, over $4 billion a year in the US, and around $400 million in Canada. Advances have been made in research, treatment and survival rates since this 2012 Global Television Network Bladder Cancer public message. Awareness of symptoms leads to earlier detection which opens
better treatment options.
