It's hard to believe it's been 12 years since I first heard of Bladder Cancer Canada. Back then, I had just been through surgery to remove a bladder tumor and BCC was a small, but tremendously impactful organization of volunteers.
In the years since, it has helped raise millions of dollars: money that supports life-saving research, supports patients in their time of need, and raises awareness so people get checked early and can make a full recovery.
While I was one of the lucky ones, bladder cancer is one of the most expensive cancers to treat, with a very high recurrence rate, and it receives little research funding. This year, another 12,500 Canadians will be diagnosed.
