Bladder Cancer Canada is near and dear to my heart. It is through them that I had the support I needed to deal with my cancer diagnosis and the ensuing treatment and surgery. There are new developments in the treatment of bladder cancer; more options are needed that are less invasive than bladder removal. I walk because anyone with a bladder cancer diagnosis should not feel alone. BCC provides one-to-one support through peer volunteers, support groups, education and webinar sessions, as well as Guide booklets with helpful information about bladder cancer. I want to see these resources continue to be available to everyone with this diagnosis.
This is the 7th year that I’m raising money in support of Bladder Cancer Canada by participating in Canada Walks for Bladder Cancer. Canada Walks for Bladder Cancer is a national walk on the third weekend in September, with participants from across Canada uniting to increase awareness and raise funds to support Bladder Cancer Canada.Bladder cancer is one of the most expensive cancers to treat, has a high recurrence rate, and it receives very little research funding. This year, another 12,500 Canadians will be diagnosed, adding to the 80,000+ survivors. Please consider donating today and support my fundraising efforts. Consider joining Canada Walks for Bladder Cancer. Together we can make bladder cancer just a memory!
