Welcome to My Personal Page - Team Plumbing Problem
Thank you for your interest in supporting Bladder Cancer Canada by participating in Canada Walks for Bladder Cancer. This annual national walk has participants from across Canada uniting to increase awareness and raise funds to support Bladder Cancer Canada.
Bladder cancer is one of the most expensive cancers to treat, with a high recurrence rate - yet it receives very little research funding. This year, another 13,300 Canadians will be diagnosed, adding to the 80,000+ survivors. Add to this the countless number of care partners, family, friends and colleagues whose lives can also be impacted by bladder cancer.
I was diagnosed just under 2years ago. Before this, my health was pretty good - I had no idea that trouble was literally brewing inside my body. One day, one time only, blood showed up in my urine. Although my world was turned inside out, I am grateful for early diagnosis and early treatment as my prognosis is now far, far better than if the aggressive cancer had time to take over my bladder and body. It’s scary how easy it would have been to ignore the blood, to “deal with it later”, or not notice it at all. After some time to absorb my diagnosis and what can feel like an overwhelmingly long treatment protocol, I decided I needed to help educate others about bladder cancer. People don’t typically want to talk about personal “plumbing problems”, but in this instance, talking about bladder cancer could save someone’s life.
Please donate today and support my fundraising efforts. Consider joining Canada Walks for Bladder Cancer. Together we can make bladder cancer just a memory!
