I’m raising money in support of Bladder Cancer Canada by participating in Canada Walks for Bladder Cancer.

Having a recent diagnosis of bladder cancer, this cause means a lot to me.  Fortunately, it was detected early and I only required surgery. However, I will need regular screening for the rest of my life due to its high recurrence rate.

Bladder cancer is one of the most expensive cancers to treat and it receives very little research funding. This year, another 13,300 Canadians will be diagnosed, adding to the 80,000+ survivors.

Despite being the 5th most common cancer in Canada, I had never heard of bladder cancer and knew nothing about it.  I am participating in this walk to help raise awareness and raise funds to support Bladder Cancer Canada.
